I just saw the news while I was watching a softball game on ESPN2.

I was literally in shock for about a minute, just staring at the TV. I really don't even know what to say. Josh's family and friends will be in my prayers tonight.

This is just so tragic. To go from pitching well in a professional baseball game, having your life going on a good track, to getting into a fatal car accident all in the matter of one day. Unbelievable.

RIP, Josh. When something like this happens I forget about baseball and remember that life is not something to be taken for granted.

From reports, the tow truck wasn't on the shoulder (there is no shoulder on that stretch of highway), he was in the left hand lane, cleaning up a prior accident.

I can't turn on the radio or look at any websites without seeing someone use this to further some sort of agenda or commentary. Why does there have to be an opinion about everything?

"Goes to show ____", or "so and so should be called up", "Dewitt's a cheapskate", Cubs fans calling in to talk shows whining about the game being canceled, there are even 200 new Josh Hancock items on Ebay in the last couple of hours as opposed to 8 posted in the last week.

I'm going to go take a walk or something; I'm starting to get unreasonably upset.

One of the few things to be gained from viewing the wreckage (maybe the only thing) is to know Josh died a very quick and painless death.

God bless Josh's family, the Cardinal family, and anyone else that knew Josh or is greiving over Josh.

He was a battler. Even though he never had the best stuff, he made the best use of what he had, earning his way onto a championship caliber roster and contributing signficantly. And even this year, when the deck was stacked against him, he fought hard to make this club and contribute.

We will miss you Josh Hancock.
