Springfield won 8-6 against Wichita Reliever turned starter Kevin Ool gave up 1 earned run (4 total) over 5 innings. After some initial struggles, Mike Cooper and Jason Motte, the relievers called up from Palm Beach, are coming around. Cooper gave up 1 run over 2 innings, and Motte added a scoreless inning. Chris Perez gave up a run but picked up the save in the ninth. That’s the third time in a row that he’s made things interesting. Colby Rasmus was 2 for 4. Joe Mather was 3 for 3 with 2 walks. Juan Encarnacion went 1 for 5 to end his rehab assignment with a batting average of .155. At one point he struck out when the homeplate umpire called the third strike on him for leaving the batter’s box without asking timeout. Box Log

Palm Beach lost 6-4 to Dunedin. Gary Daley gave up 4 runs (3 earned) over 6 innings with 6 strikeouts (but he also gave up 7 walks nearly doubling his season total). Mark Hamilton had another homer. His numbers (.276, .301, .490, .791) are now nearly respectable which is amazing considering how poor they were at the start of May. Box Log

Quad Cities won 11-5 in the finale of their series with the Lansing Lugnuts. Brandon Dickson gave up 3 runs over 5 innings. Costarter Blake King gave up 1 run (unearned) over 3 innings with 4 strikeouts. That’s his second good outing in a row, and that is good to see after some struggles earlier in the season. Kenny Maiques gave up 1 run in the ninth. That was the first run he’s given up since April 9th. He also had 2 strikouts. Brandon Buckman was 2 for 4. Christian Reyes was 2 for 5 with a homer. Donovan Solano was 4 for 5. That snapped a 6 game hitless streak for him. Box Log
