Well, I have to give Strauss credit. Looks like he was right. I still don't get how you can report that you know of a rift without being able to produce more than quote from a minor league employee.

This blows in so many ways. Pardon my French. I'm sure Tony's gone too.
Yep, I agree on all counts. I figured the whole internal rift thing was just a fabrication as well... just the media trying to sell papers.

I guess it wasn't. :?

WOW.
Guess for me, that point of view depends on just how unhappy and devisive Walt has become over the past year. If his dissatisfaction with the budget, and his disillusionment with the whole Luhnow thing, have become as festering as these things sometimes get in any workplace, it was time to go.
But they're making it sound like they dismissed Walt, not that Walt quit. Or am I misinterpreting your statements?
I'm saying that it is possible his attitude became disruptive enough, or that he was far enough from the page everyone else was on in the company playbook, that he had to be let go. I don't know this to be true, I'm just suggesting that it is an everyday reality in corporate America.

It'll be interesting if the Seattle rumor turns out to be true.... for both TLR and Jocketty.
The M's extended both Bavasi and that manager guy that I'd never heard of not too long ago. In short, they're out.

Cincinnati would be the logical place for him to land, if he doesn't take some time off.

I'm extremely annoyed right now.

I don't see how Walt fits in Cincy. If anything, they'd be even less prone to spend money and more dependent on the farm system, which hasn't been Walt's strength.

Cinci certainly seems like the front-runner. But some openings may come about now that this duo is available.

If Tony leaves in response and takes Duncan, what would happen to Chris?

If you didn't hate DeWitt coming into this (I didn't), you know have a reason to.

That was tongue-in-cheek, but this makes me mad, too.

i have a bad feeling that this is going to effect the cards for years to come..
tony and dunc are probably gone.. and not expecting a "win now" approach..
which leads to albert leaving in a few years which leads to the end of life as we know it.

He was clearly forced out by DeWitt. Jocketty kept a good public face, but had to be irritated DeWitt wouldn't give him the resources, after a World Series victory, to put his usual winning team on the field. He may have gotten the felling this would repeat this offseason, got pissed, and they had to let him go.

He'd be an orphan.
