That's a very good point (and I say this as someone with Pentecostal grandparents and aunts).

Not that it's really that big of a deal to me or anything...

1. If she lied about dressing up as Tina Fey, it's a tiny white lie and the kind of dumb thing that I don't want people talking about instead of issues

2. If she told the truth, it means she's less batpoop crazy than I thought she was by belonging to that religion

You aren't joking there, at my daughters christening at a Romanian Petecostal church two women started yelling stuff out in Romanian and then speaking in "tongues" my wife told me they were overtaken by the Holy Spirit and were speaking his words, that was the last time I went to that church.

I really seriously hope I don't live in a country where people will vote, and be influenced by what they have seen in an SNL skit.
Too late.

A lot of people don't follow the news closely and may not be aware of all the little issues until they see it parodied in an SNL skit. Look at all the people that get their news from the Daily Show. SNL is always huge during election seasons and it's hard to imagine it doesn't have at least some superficial influence on people's general impressions of the candidates and their stances on certain issues. Everybody was buzzing about SNL in 2000, I think we even watched the sketches in a class of mine (lockbox anyone?).

It's basically a tiny step above snake-handlers.

Just for the record, I heard that on the radio on the drive home and don't have a link. But it was during a "news" segment with no additional discussion so I don't think they had any incentive to lie.

McCain may have lost some of my respect for picking a candidate that is blatant pandering to the extremists, and a gimmick ploy for female votes - but he's won some of my admiration for making such a wickedly calculated choice. He's looking like a genious. The more Palin gets skewered (whether rightly or wrongly) the more popular she gets.

This is my biggest beef with him picking Palin. It IS effective, and he doesn't care if he blurs the line between winning an election and effectively governing our country.

Please note the amount of oil added and the timeline when it goes online. This is a money grab disguised as pump relief. It will cause more damage to the environment and will provide no benefit of getting off foreign oil. If we want to get off foreign oil and become "energy indepedent", we need something else besides offshore drilling. (fuel cells, wind, solar, nuclear, geothermal...)

Take the money used to drill offshore and invest in the future...your kids will thank you.
The good news is, a decent chunk of that "foreign oil" comes from Canada (~2MM bbl/day) and Mexico (~1.2MM bbl/day). Friendly allies. Additional good news is that Canada could ramp up to ~3MM bbl/day. Bad news is, Mexico will likely ramp down to nearly 0 over the next 10 years, as they will soon run into a defecit with their oil supply.

Now, how do we get to the happy zone of consuming ~10MM bbl/day that we could conceivably produce between the US and Canada?

They are not lying. My son attended a service of this faith and quite frankly was pretty freaked out by it. I thought maybe he was exaggerating, but I found out my Dad attended a service there years ago and he seconded my son's story.

I'm not passing any judgement, but I think it's fair that the public be educated on this religion and her ties to it.

I don't think she's Pentecostal. Wouldn't she have to wear a skirt down to her ankles then?

Fun fact of the day: Sam Kinison was a Pentecostal preacher.

Doesn't she do that?

Looks like she was Pentecostal for a long time but chose a new church six years ago:
