Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought recently(last couple of years) that Federal tax revenue had hit an all time high.

Trickle-down doesn't even work as a theory, much less in practice. The rich do not become philanthropists who are putting their fortunes to creating a middle class because they're getting tax breaks, they invest in ventures which allow them to build larger fortunes. Even in theory it just creates a larger disparity between the wealthy and the non, which history shows always leads to a dysfunctional economy.
More and better jobs are created through an actual redistribution of wealth. This may not seem "fair" in the eyes of a Libertarian, but it's the cost of living in a modern society.

McCain is pulling out of MI....
LinkJohn McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.
McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida for Bush.
