It's a blowout right now.

With 25 days to go until the election, Barack Obama is presently at his all-time highs in four of the six national tracking polls (Research 2000, Battleground, Hotline and Zogby) and is just one point off his high in Gallup. He has emerged with clear leads in both Florida and Ohio, where there are several polls out today. He is blowing McCain out in most polls of Pennsylvania and Michigan, and is making states like West Virgina and Georgia competitive.
There's just nothing in there for McCain to hang his hat on.

I try to lay low on the politics with the fam. the few times we tried to discuss in the past it hasn't worked out so well. I love them all and we don't get enough time together as it is. our family has kind of a "don't ask don't tell "policy about who we support in the election.
My work is fine. We are slow this time of year and have time to talk about it, but we keep our professionalism. We've got one person that listens to Laura ingram and Oreilly all day. but doesn't push it on others. More of the incidents occur with my wife's work. The business's that are her clients are ultra conservative. Her bosses are angry people like the ones showing at Palin rallies. Since my wife isn't that politically motivated she just stays mum and listens to their rants and tirades. she definitely could lose clients and maybe her job if she vocalized Obama support.
I can't think McCain supporters losing their jobs because of their political bent. much of that anger from the GOP is because they know that the GOP rule failed the country, they are losing this election and are having a tough time coming to grips.
Buy them a beer.

So, apparently McPalin rallies are getting pretty nasty and now McCain has to defend Obama and reinforce that he's decent and NOT a Muslim. And his supporters had a smattering of boos at McCain.
This is bizarre.

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin
Random thoughts after catching up on the thread after a long day at the office from a lonely hotel room....
My family has been more solidly democratic during my life than I have been. They have been distressed whenever I've voted Republican (and my sister in San Antonio warned me that it would be a huge mistake to buy into W's rhetoric back in 2000). My mother-in-law, however, derides Obama and thinks that if he's elected blacks will overrun the White House. Most of this feeling is fear-based due to her isolated life on a farm in northern Wisconsin. I'm not sure she has ever met a black person. When you try to "enlighten" her, she just shrugs and says, "well, I don't know...". And she loves Palin because she's a mother and "puts Jesus first" (which means she thinks Obama is a Muslim).
If it were Huckabee vs Obama, it would be a much tougher decision for me. And I don't have any relatives in Arkansas who could try and dissuade me.
I'm still bothered by the guy at work who sounded just like the people in the videos that Joce posted. Support whoever you want, but how does an intelligent person believe the crap about Obama being a closet Muslim and terrorist?
Finally, this is pretty good beer.

I don't have any friends or family members who are voting McCain.
My dad keeps saying "NOBODY can possibly be satisfied with the way things have been run, can they?" He thinks "change" is critical and that McCain is not a change.

I think I'm more comfortable if he's not on my side.
