The Onion wrote:WASHINGTON—At a press conference on Monday, members of the Vietnam Veterans Alliance blasted Democratic nominee Barack Obama for his failure to serve in the Southeast Asian war that ended 33 years ago, alleging that during the conflict the candidate frequently engaged in games of T-ball. "While our boys were dying in Vietnam, Barack Obama was running around a little league field, laughing and having fun without a care in the world," VVA spokesman James Lowry said. "John McCain left his wife and three children behind and fought bravely, but I guess Sen. Obama decided that practicing cursive and learning how to ride a bike was just more important than defending his country in her hour of need. I bet he wasn't even able to point out Vietnam on a map." Lowry later speculated that if Obama had been sent over to fight in the conflict, he probably would have peed his pants and cried for his mommy as soon as he touched down in Saigon.

Wat it exit polls only or pre-election day polling as well? Because those are very different things. In exit polls you have a pollster looking you in the face. Pre-election polling involves more anonymous telephone conversations.Exit polls showed Bradley leading by a wide margin, and the Democrat confidentially thought it would be an early election night.
But Bradley and the polls were wrong. He lost to Republican George Deukmejian.
I saw somewhere that a study showed that in the case of Obama vs. Clinton in the primaries there was indeed a Bradley effect for him in states like California, but a reverse Bradley effect for him in many of the Southern states. The idea here being that in a state like California there would be more societal pressure to say you voted for a black man, but in the South there would be more societal pressure to say you voted against one. I don't know if this finding was based on exit polls alone. Not sure how robust the effect was either.

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin
The reason Obama underperformed vs Clinton in California was due to the fact that they allowed voting before the actual primary date, which heavily favored Clinton since Obama's poll numbers surged right before the official voting day. This phenomenon can also be applied to the presidential race, which is good news for Obama since he's so far ahead in the polls right now. He's already locked in a sizable lead in several battleground states.clement wrote:I saw somewhere that a study showed that in the case of Obama vs. Clinton in the primaries there was indeed a Bradley effect for him in states like California, but a reverse Bradley effect for him in many of the Southern states.
