That was the speculation I heard this morning as well. As one put it, Powell would've come out a long time ago if it was McCain.
I'd give it a 65-35 to him endorsing Obama at this point.

Florida is the only real shocker, I guess. Missouri is moving further left. And for the record, that SurveyUSA has never given Obama a lead in Florida anyway. It's pretty consistent within its own regards. Plus, the internals are way [expletive] up. McCain gets 22% of the AA vote. Bush only got 13% in 04. It's screwy.

EDIT: Forgot about North Dakota. Probably a swing state now.

Stupid talking-point blathering > stupid questions from Chris Matthews > more stupid blathering. She didn't take the bait but she didn't have enough of a clue to call him on it.

Surprise, shock and some fear in a local neighborhood, after an anti-Obama display is hung from a tree. The display is at a home at Symmes and Hicks Road in Fairfield.

And the person who put it there says the message isn't political, it's racist. Shawn Ley spoke with the man who isn't shy about his views.

There it is, right above the "McCain-Palin" sign: a make-shift ghost, hanging from a noose. A Barack Obama sign attached upside down. Obama's middle name: "Hussein" spray painted and misspelled above.

So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, "We're votin' for the n***er!"

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly: "We're voting for the n***er."

In this economy, racism is officially a luxury. How is John McCain going to win if he can't win those voters? John Murtha's "racist" western Pennsylvania district, where this story takes place, is some of the roughest turf in the nation. But Barack Obama is on the ground and making inroads due to unusually strong organizing leadership.
Over in Indiana, PA and Northern Cambria, PA, volunteers fielded complaints of a massive wave of ugly robocalls both paid for by John McCain's campaign and those paid for by third parties. The third party call was interactive, and purported to be from Barack Obama himself. The call starts out reasonably, and then "Obama" asks what the listener thinks is the most important issue. Whatever the response, "Obama" then launches into a profane and crazed tirade using "n***er" and other shock language.

PJ, those robocalls from "Obama" ain't no thing. McCain is categorically proud of his supporters. Even if they use racism, bigotry or call for his death.
