Here's a lightening up subject: John McCain can't win this election anymore. So it's silly for us to even get angry about it anymore.

John McCain looks like death warmed over. Discuss.
I was thinking more like cold death.

So what exactly did you mean by pointing out that their hatred is the result of the actions of 9/11?

Your intent is obvious, no matter how you dance around it.

The Florida Rasmussen poll and the Ohio Rasmussen poll are the only two that even look good for McCain here. Maybe Suffolk MO. But this thing is still over.

EDIT: I didn't even see the Georgia +2. Holy [expletive].

My intent was to show the hatred for Muslims and Muslim-Americans started, or at least rose dramatically, after 9/11. Pointing out a fact, and that's pretty much a fact, and saying that it's okay to feel that way aren't even closely the same thing.

I also said something about how people hate blacks. Having the next POTUS have both black and Muslim heritage wouldn't sit well with some. That doesn't mean that it's okay.

I could go on and on about how racist the city that I live in is. But stating that it is isn't the same as supporting it. It's not the same as justifying why someone hates a particular race.

It's really quite simple. In fact, I'd venture to say you're the only one that's trying to manipulate it to mean something it's clearly not.

Stating, unbidden, that the racism in your city is the result of the actions of a few minorities does shift the blame for racism and does in fact justify the racists' sentiments.

I'd venture to say that I'm the only one who said so openly but I wasn't the only one who took it that way. I'm also still curious if you've put any thought into why your motivations are called into question, and not those of the other conservatives around here.

Some of McCain's expressions when responding to questions are very similar to those of my father, who is 10 years older and in the early clutches of dementia.

And that scares me.

My five year old - has started spouting off a few funny election comments.

- in the car, a McCain ad came on and she says "John McCain always says 'blah blah blah Barrack Obama'".
- some ladies at a store the other day were belly-achin about all the political talk and she chimes in "...yeah, John McMean!"

Oh she is a hoot. Honest, I don't think she's getting this stuff from me. Ok she knows I favor Obama but thats about it - we try to keep the poli-talk down to a minimum here. I quizzed her a bit on where she heard all this, and I tell her McCain is ok. but she stands firm with her assessment.

That doesn't even make sense.

What motivations are you talking about? Stating that I'm strongly opposed to Obama? It couldn't be that I lean far to the right. It must be that I'm racist.

I'd love to hear from anyone who took it the way you did. LOVE to. I can't point out how wrong they are, too.

My six year old has stated a few funny ones, too. She's been reading a ton about the election.
