The two parties seems to set up an all or nothing, us against them. I hate it.

His bigger problem was his incompetence. If he had had any clue about Iraq and Wall Street, then all else is forgiven.ghostrunner wrote:I'm not the first to say it, but Bush screwed his own party with his arrogance and belligerence.
I'm old enough to remember liberals holding Reagan in the same regard as Palin is held today. Jerry Falwell and Jimmy Carter made sure that didn't matter.

How's Obama's grandmother? I haven't heard anything since he returned to the campaign trail.
I cannot stand to listen to Palin speak.

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin

Guess what? Arizona, McCain's home state, is closing and closing fast. From the magnificent Silver:
Meanwhile, an Arizona poll for the Democratic strategy firm Project New West shows John McCain ahead by just 4 points there, and a couple of other polls showing a close race in McCain's home state are apparently on the way. In terms of our model, the principal effect of the Arizona polls is really not on the Grand Canyon State itself, where our model remains skeptical of an Obama upset, but rather in terms of its neighbor New Mexico, where our it is now (even) more optimistic about Obama's chances.

By the way, a quick heads up. Poll Closing times for Nov. 4th:
* 6PM (ET): Indiana, Kentucky
* 7PM: Georgia, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia
* 7:30PM: Ohio, West Virginia
* 8:00PM: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee
* 8:30PM: Arkansas, North Carolina
* 9:00PM: Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, Wyoming
* 10:00PM: Iowa, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Utah
* 11:00PM: California, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Washington

So for the record, if Georgia, Virginia or Ohio are called for Obama before 8 PM on the 4th, you can go to bed early that night. The election will be over.

that would be realistic and excellent.
It could/should happen.
It sounds good to have all these political groups, but groups that appear poised to rise would be single issue groups - "The No Tax Party" "The Pro-life Party." the "Latino Party". In some ways this is more polarizing and segregating than the system we have already.
A few years ago didn't France have this situation with multiple parties, and the vote was spread between them, and some Nazi dude made it to the final runoff?
we've effectivley had one political party with any power to speak of-the GOP. Before the dream of a third party - I'd be happy to get a 2nd party to undo some of the damage of the Bush years.

I can't watch those right now, but my mom told me McCain opened with a real smartass remark. She didn't clarify if he was joking or not.
