I can get an Xbox elite, 1 controller, Halo 3 and Fable 2 for $339 from Dell, is this a good deal or should I hold out for something better? Is Fable 2 any good? I already have a wii so I'm really on the fence about grabbing one.
sounds like a good deal for me...i also got mine through dell (via Michael's help/suggestion)
it's that price because of the harddrive included (120gb)...that's really the only difference between price...i believe mine was around 250~ but i have the 60gb (or pro package)...you'll also get a headset
you can read about the different packages at the wiki entry

As long as those two games interest you, yes it's a good deal. That package retails for 399.

That's what happened with me. I used to be a big-time PC gamer but I got tired of buying games that wouldn't work, especially ones that took months to get out a patch that would make it work.

BTW, I still can't find any option to auto-sign in, but as long as I manually sign in while the game is loading it works as it did before, so that's manageable.
i randomly found this...if you press the center Xbox button that brings up the "blue menu" (if you will), scroll to the far right side and click on "profile" where you then get the option for auto-sign in
edit: if you were talking about xbox live auto-sign in...

Buying the console version means it will work.
Same here, not that long ago I built an awesome gaming PC and it didn't take too long for it to become "slow". Only problem I got is that I'm still struggling adjusting to a controller instead of mouse+keyboard and also that none of the systems have a good flight simulator.
Major hardware upgrades needed for PC Gaming is mostly a thing of the past. Even Crysis can run on the latest sub $500 netbooks. You can build a desktop PC that will tear through most games for only around $350.

True story, though having an overclocked monster under my desk running a super high-resolution on a large monitor makes me pretty much unstoppable as a sniper in most shooting games.

One word: SOCOM
They're still releasing patches to get it to work correctly on the PS3. I have a feeling most games will be similar in the future.
