patience fellas! once the cubs end this trip to mannywood they get a free ride until the end of sept. when they play at san francisco. the cards lead could get chopped down pretty quick next week when they face wandy, moehler and bud norris with the cubs facing the nationals.
i'm not thinking playoffs until the cards have clinched. but i also don't believe they're gonna get jinxed by a thread. haha.

If the Cardinals put up a modest 20-19 record the rest of the way, essentially playing .500 ball, the Cubs would have to go 30-13 to take the division.

Any historians wanna find out if the Cubs have ever gone 30-13 to end a season?Ace wrote:If the Cardinals put up a modest 20-19 record the rest of the way, essentially playing .500 ball, the Cubs would have to go 30-13 to take the division.

When we acquired Holliday we were 53-48 and a half game behind the cubs. "Cool standings" gave us a 29.8% chance at the playoffs. Since then Cards have gone 17-5, the Cubs have gone 10-13 and now the Cardinals have a 90.5% chance of making the playoffs.
I forget, which baseball "expert" said the Holliday acquisition wouldn't make much of a difference?
