That's the way it should be.cards2468 wrote:Division. So are we looking at a 96 win team (regular season only of course)? That doesn't seem out of the question now.

Our current win% projects to 94 wins. If we take our record since getting Holliday, it projects to 98 wins.lukethedrifter wrote:That's the way it should be.cards2468 wrote:Division. Re: MAGIC NUMBER: 25
I did a few quick calculations just out of curiosity. They've played 131 games so far, so with 31 games left, if they stay true to their current .580 winning percentage, they'll end up with 94 wins. However, since the Cards acquired Holliday on July 24, their record has been 25-9, which is good for a .735 winning percentage. If they keep that pace up for the final 31 games, they'll end up with 99 wins. If they've got somewhere between 94 and 99 wins at the end of the regular season, I'll be way more than satisfied.lukethedrifter wrote:That's the way it should be.

Edit - Apparently obucard and I were thinking the same thing.
Edit, part 2 - The Cards have 24 wins since getting Holliday, not 25. So yeah, that winning percentage over the final 31 games would give us 98 wins.

to simplify things a little bit, after some research of my own, we'd have to match our record for the last 31 games (23-8) to win 99.ThatGuy wrote:I did a few quick calculations just out of curiosity. The schedule is not favorable once we hit September with a lot of games played against teams still gunning for the wild card.
I was pretty optimistic when predicting during preseason that we'd win 87-90, but even considering the team right now I'd be surprised if they win more than 90-92. The offense is still incredibly streaky and the bullpen is sketchy right now.

76-55 as of today.Cronos69 wrote:The schedule is not favorable once we hit September with a lot of games played against teams still gunning for the wild card.

92 wins would be 16-15 to finish out the year. You'd be surprised if this team bettered .500 for the rest of the year?
Games remaining against teams that are out of it (drawing the line after the Cubs, who are 5.5 back, and above the Brewers who are 8.5 back):
Brewers: 9
Pirates: 3
Astros: 3
Reds: 3
Nats: 1
Total: 19
Games against WC contenders:
Braves: 3
Marlins: 3
Cubs: 3
Rox: 3
Total: 12
92 wins is a minimum, unless they really pull of the gas.

TLR would not let this team off the gas, not while we have the best NL overall record to shoot for.Faceman wrote:76-55 as of today.Cronos69 wrote:The schedule is not favorable once we hit September with a lot of games played against teams still gunning for the wild card.
