Need to be careful, because I still believe the Yankees are standing by with right of last refusal and an offer of "whatever you've gotten so far, plus 10%;" but in general, I agree with the above. If we've given a proposal, and then in response to their feedback we've sweetened it, at this point it is time for them to give a counter-proposal, or else introduce the other teams in the running and what they are offering that we are not.

I understand why people worry about the Yankees, but I don't think they have this big pressing need for a player like Holliday. They just signed Texieria to a similar ridiculous deal and they'll need to give Granderson a raise soon. I'm guessing that they'll sign Damon and be done with it. Even the Yankees have limits.

I think Boras wants everyone to think the Yankees are going to swoop in because he knows that the only team willing to give anything close to what he wants is the Cardinals which takes away his leverage.

I agree. You have to wonder if most of the Yankee whispers are coming from Boras himself. There's no way to know for sure, but at some point Mo has to call the bluff and say "this is where we're at....... where are you at?". If that means he lands with the Yankees for $160 mil, then so be it.......... you did the best you could. If it turns out that the Yankees aren't in the loop, then Mo looks like a genius for not budging.

I honestly wouldn't have a problem with the FO if they walked away after this latest offer. I still hope we get him, but they've given an excellent offer and we can't just tell him to accept it.
