The first time I've ever heard the phrase Octagon of Doom was last month. Then they lost back to back home games. That's what cracks me up about it, they lose 2-3 conference home games every year.

I hadn't heard that either until the KU-KSU game. Which made it hilarious, because we're like 24-1 there.

Going into the last weekend of the regular season, Missouri State can wind up with anything from the #5 seed to the #8 seed.

Any league where the Bears can wind up an 8 seed is pretty decent.

Here's hoping for the 5 seed...I thought we still had a chance at the 4, but the outcomes last night changed that.

The Bears are a really good team, but need a PG who can get to the bucket and distribute to get that next step to the tourney level. Also, a little more depth and athleticism would be nice. Hopefully, both of those things are on the way next year.

The nickname was popularized in the media during the 2009-2010 season, but it was first used in on-line internet forums in early 2007.[4][5] K-State students bring octagonal shaped signs with "Doom" written on them and wear "Doom" t-shirts to games.

Bradley has to beat Creighton and the Bears must win at Terre Haute for the #5 seed. There might be another factor in there somewhere too for Mo State to get the #5. Bradley is locked into the 4v5 game.

I'm not sure that you want the 5 seed. BU is playing their best and most consistent basketball of the season right now.

Safford sidelined with torn ACL

Missouri basketball coach Mike Anderson announced today that starting forward Justin Safford suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Wednesday night’s 92-63 win over Colorado.

Safford will miss Saturday’s showdown at No. 6 Kansas State. According to a news release from the university, the injury will be reevaluated next week and a decision will be made then on treatment options.

Anderson did say in an interview with WHB radio in Kansas City that “eventually he’s going to have to have surgery.

I'm really impressed with what Safford has become. If this happened last year, I doubt I'd bat an eyelash. Now it seems like a much bigger deal. Of course, last year they had Lyons and Carroll. I'm lost on the whole "will miss Saturday's" game/re-evaluation of treatment options thing. Torn ACL = done for a year, right?

It could depend on the severity of the tear. If it's just a small tear, they may be able to let it heal on its own without any surgery. I've been very pleased with how he's played this year, too.

I think you have it correctly, yes. Bears have to win, and Bradley has to win. If Bears win, and Creighton wins, we play Illinois State most likely. A loss and we most likely fall to the 8 seed and play SIU, or could be the 7 seed and play Evansville.

I'd most certainly rather Bradley than Illinois State, because we don't match up with ISU red well.
