And he's done developing probably. He is what is is going to be, if all he is is a bench player then get him up here and have him on the bench. It's not critical that he plays every day, get's 4 AB's a night etc... for his development. In other words he's probably done cooking, time to serve.

There might not be a better time to bump this thread.

Some crazy, crazy moves tonight. Really beyond explanation. Letting Motte go a second inning after pitching the previous two days. Not using KMac, even though he didn't pitch yesterday. If not KMac, why not Boggs?

What I really didn't understand was using Motte in the 7th knowing that he planned to use MacDougal in the 8th. That's just all kinds of backward. And then bringing Miller in for a full inning to get lit up and put the game completely out of reach.

And that's just the pitching staff...

LOL at Tony's postgame.

McClellan wasn't brought in in the 8th because he pitched 2 days ago and warmed up yesterday.

TODAY WAS MOTTE'S THIRD [expletive] DAY IN A ROW AND YOU SENT HIM OUT FOR A 2ND INNING

That was funny. Motte should never go 2 innings. It's really that simple.

Not to mention the fact that wasn't McClellan "groomed" as a starter in the first place and is seen as more of a long relief guy? While Motte is known to have velocity issues on back to back nights?

Motte didn't pitch on the 31st.

Why did McClellan warm up yesterday?

Because Boggs had trouble in an 8 run game I guess.

La Russa won't admit it, but I'd guess he was looking for an excuse to give MacDougal a high leverage opportunity because they've got a roster decision to make in a couple of days, and MacDougal with his 96-mph fastball is the obvious candidate to be cut.

If McClellan and Boggs were both unavailable, then the decision to pull Westbrook after exactly 100 pitches is strange.

It's mind-boggling that a team with eight relievers would double-switch its #5 hitter and best defensive OF out of the game. I'll never get used to these double-switches. La Russa at some point will have to accept that Colby Rasmus is easily the third-best position player on the roster, and by default a member of The Core. It's nuts to play a close game with an outfield with a tweener like Jay and a no-talent like Winn, with another no-talent like Stavinoha then hitting in Rasmus's place. It was goofy before the Ludwick trade, but now it's a pretty simple test of his baseball IQ.

Holy [expletive] last night made me angry. I haven't been viscerally angry over a baseball game in years. What the [expletive]? Really? What the [expletive]? You're in a heated race with the Reds and you only have a 2 run cushion over a hot Astros team in the first game of your new #3 starters Cardinals career. Why, for [expletive]'s sake, are you going two innings with Motte, putting MacDougal in for the 8th, and leaving Miller out to get shelled? What the [expletiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive]?

What'll we [expletive] about when we these things happen if we have a conventional manager?
