Apparently he warmed up 3 times during Sunday's 9-1 victory over the pirates, which made him unavailable Monday.jim wrote:The managing fit the play on the field. Both embarrassing. Was KMac not available? He threw 7 pitches on Sat in a blowout to keep him sharp, I can't understand what the thinking was there.

warming up 3 times in a 9-1 blowout is a headscratcher in and of itself

I wish our manager "liked to watch," instead of inserting himself into the game at any opportunity.lukethedrifter wrote:Yes, yes he is.

Aug 7 ... another wtf double switch. Up 1, bottom of 9, no intention of your closer going more than 1 inning, so let's take out Rasmus and put in Craig - a guy that they can't figure out what to do with defensively.
Phone rang as soon as the inning started ... m1ironmik calling to vent. Can't blame him.

His actions are so bizarre that it doesn't even generate a good baseball discussion .. as in two different reasonable ways to go about something. I like that, getting another idea that has some good foundation and arguing your point. Some of his moves, like tonight, just don't make any sense at all. I mean I'm more than happy to hear the reasoning, I'd absolutely love to hear something that makes some sense. But I just don't think I'm going to.
It's just not fun to watch him manage games.

I really think he just lets favoritism and personal opinion get in the way of baseball decisions. Double switching Colby out all the time. Miles seeing so much playing time. Continuing to bat Yadi as high up in the order as he does. Reyes as the LOOGY. I've always been a TLR guy, but I'm beginning to hate him.Joe Shlabotnik wrote: Honestly, is he getting senile or something?

Another big head scratcher is how the ML roster/bench is configured right now. I suspect it's a little more TLR than Mo. And the options sometimes sets up TLR's headscratching moves. If Franklin does his job, the game is over before any benefit of the DS takes effect. Another reason the move doesn't make sense. So the worst case scenario happens, and you end up with the pitcher behind Holliday, with no bench!
