The Brendan Ryan that leads the team in sacrifice bunts? Yes. TLR played for the tie and would have had a weaker defense to go with it.
If he leads in bunts it is because he sucks at hitting. He is not a dependable bunter.
How much of that is rooted in fact, and how much of it is perception?

I seriously hoped he was not going to ask Ryan to bunt before I saw Miles heading up there.

He's succeeded 9 times, and I saw him pop up two bunts in a row last week. That wasn't the first time either this season. It also says something to me that Tony didn't leave him in to do the bunting.

Says about as much to me as he said when he had Ryan pinch hit instead of Ludwick last year to avoid the double play.

When it comes to pressure situations, Ryan cannot be trusted. I feel LaRussa feels the same way about him as well.

I don't know. I'd love to see a stat for blown bunts, because it's struck me that on the occasions when we have tried it most of the position players and pitchers haven't been doing a very good job. It's maybe the one thing I'd favor Miles for vs. anybody else.

That was against Marmol - a pitcher whose stuff is so explosive that not one single player has been able to lay a bunt down on this year.

Just eyeballing it I really have a hard time believing that Miles is a better bunter then Ryan. Maybe the facts will prove me wrong.

Did he really double switch Holliday's spot again? I wasn't watching.
