I wonder if Mulder's lockup/weird mechanics are anything like that kid from Rookie of the Year....it could be a good thing...

Not sure about who will start Thursday - Jaime Garcia is a possibility. Reyes is possible for one start, but Duncan isn't sure about him doing multiple starts. McClellan not really an option to become a start - tough transition during the season. Doesn't think Pineiro will be ready for Thursday. Sounds like Garcia is number one on the list right now, could be Todd from AA (although his name wasn't mentioned directly).
I would think that Garcia would be at the top of the list. As good as Todd has been, he certainly hasn't passed Garcia as a prospect yet, and Garcia's been pretty darn good recently himself. A spot start or two this season would give us some idea of what to expect out of him for next season.

It's probably a good thing that they're eliminating McClellan from the discussion. I think that he'll start at some point--probably next year--but leave him where he's effective for now.

They could go ahead and move McClellan into the rotation if Motte were pitching better at Memphis, but he's giving up a bunch of runs lately. Growing pains.

He's a coach, he is not allowed to be biased. And I doubt that he is, if he didn't want to talk about it was probably because he doesn't talk about any position players being sent down because it's not his job. Why should it be now?

+1

He'd be crazy if he thought the situation that occurred wasn't justified. He knows baseball and he knows that's how things work. Doesn't mean Duncan can't root for his kid to do well and maybe earn a promotion, but he shouldn't be biased as to trying to keep his kid in StL or being upset when he's sent down when he doesn't deserve to be there.

Did they mention that Garcia would be going on short rest? I understand the distaste for Reyes, but short rest isn't a trivial matter.

Mulder's like a monster in a horror movie. He just won't die.
I wonder how low his arm slot will go until it is dubbed "The Quisenberry"
I think it'll be nicknamed "The Cryptkeeper".

This from Bernie
He's on with us now on 1380...

Pineiro threw a bullpen today in Cincy and came out of it well and so he's set to go Thursday.

Wellemeyer set for Saturday.

Clement rehab start on Friday...

Mulder threw today, felt stronger, and will be sent out on another rehab assignment... Mozeliak said Mulder's confidence is better right now than it has been at any point of this surgery/comeback ordeal...so Mozeliak is encouraged.

Izzy throws rehab assignment tomorrow night, and then throw a side session in STL over the weekend... and then a decision will be made if they send him back to continue the rehab, or put him on the 25-man roster.

As for Waino ... several MRIs... reveals no tear... sprain is the diagnosis... will take time...they will monitor and learn more...

About McClellan, Moz prefers to keep him in bullpen; the starting thing would be a last resort thing for this season.

He knew it was justified. You could tell he knew when he had his face is his hands after Chris botched a fly ball before he got demoted.

I feel like this should be clarified a bit.

What I gathered from his Reyes comments was that they didn't want to call Reyes up to make only 1 start, then either go to the bullpen or go back down. When they call him up the next time, they want it to be as a regular part of the rotation.

That's been my hunch regarding their treatment of Reyes recently. They would like to get him in a steady groove at AAA, and then make only one move back to the StL rotation. With the thought that possibly jerking him back and forth on the Reyes Memorial I-55 Express may have an adverse affect on him.
