Now this is from memory but I think in The Book it says that batting the pitcher 7 generates the most runs through simulations.

Batting the pitcher 8th is one of his unconventional moves that, at least in theory, helps the team. What I don't get is why you bat him 8th some days, and 9th the other.

If we are going back in time, how about a couple of nights ago where he brings in T. Miller to face one left handed batter to start an inning. The SIXTH inning.

Something about Jeff Tabaka pitching in playoffs when he had only been off the diabaled list about two days the whole season and couldn't break an eggshell with his stuff.

You had Rasmus in RF and Ankiel in CF for a good chunk of games. Why would being better defensively have anything to do with where they play?
