The big star pitchers of his era - Zack Greinke, Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer - all kind of went out with a wimper instead of a lot of fan fare. Maybe not Kershaw, but the rest of them just kind of fizzled out. I know Scherzer and Verlander are still pitching, but their ERAs are not pretty right now.

Lest we forget Adam Wainwright's farewell season.

A poor season but he did finish on a strong game.

I saw Justin and the Mrs. at a resort in mid November last year. Neither looked like they were in mid-season form. Glad he kept pitching until there was nothing left in the tank - leave nothing on the table.
