Some Enron-style shenanigans are unfolding. I wonder if Ohtani, Betts, and the other Dodgers with hundreds of millions in deferred money owed inthe 2030s and beyond are going to wind up (unpaid) creditors in a future bankruptcy proceeding.

I assume their contracts are with the Dodgers, not the owner. He's going to sell the Dodgers and whoever the new owner is will pay those deferred contracts?

The contracts would be with the Dodgers. You're probably right. The Dodgers franchise will not likely file for bankruptcy, but the value of the franchise takes a huge hit when the house of cards collapses and those are big outstanding liabilities.

Pretty sure all the deferred money owed to those players still gets "paid" now into escrow, so it's not really deferred on the team's side. So I'd assume that'd be safe?
