I’d honestly forgotten about Steve Phillips.
He keeps the GM in his Twitter handle so you know he was a GM 30 years ago

The competitive balance picks were announced. It made me wonder if the trades of Donovan, Romero, or Contreras would be best used to double down on this year's draft. Specifically, the Guardians, Royals, D-backs, Orioles, and Pirates have picks that can be traded and these fall just before Round 2 and they all have been linked to the Cardinals for potential trades. Depending on the results of the draft lottery at the Winter Meetings, we could have a significant amount of draft pool money from our first round pick, our competitive balance pick (somewhere around pick 32), an additional competitive balance pick from a trade, and our 2nd round pick. Trading for an extra pick (and more importantly more draft pool money) may be a unique opportunity to maximize the haul from the draft.

My question is for those who know the amateur draft: Is this year's draft class deep as well as strong at the top of the draft? I've heard this year's draft is very good through the top ten picks. Is this year's draft class deep and strong enough that picks around 29-34 are potentially more valuable that the prospects we could get in a trade of Donovan, Romero, or Contreras?

The Mariners beat writer for the Seattle Times is speculating the team could use Brendan Donovan:

If any Cardinal ends up with the Mariners, especially an everyday player, I’m going to have to reassess attending Mariners games.

They are now also reportedly interested in JoJo

Just want to point out that the Mariners also have a Competitive Balance pick they could trade. It will come after the 2nd round. Maybe they'd trade that for Jo Jo.

I enjoy listening to Holliday, Lynn and Gibson. Some of the show is filler but it is interesting to hear their takes on the different players.

I've watched every episode so far. They've gotten better but there's always so many sarcastic burns to Jim and each other that waste time and are usually too mean to be funny. Gibson's tech is always terrible and talks like a politician if he's not ripping on Jim. Holliday is starting to put in a bit of effort but generally looks bored to be there. Lynn has upgraded his tech, has tried polishing his interview skills, and isn't afraid to speak about specific players even if it's negative.

I'm as into draft picks as most anyone.

Getting pick ~75 for Jojo would be about right from an FV standpoint, but I'd want some filler on my side.

There is very little available from a LHP standpoint so I'd leverage him for more.
