It's well understood that 89 wins and a Wild Card/first round exit checks all the boxes for you, but despite your opinion that the rest of us don't deserve to be Cardinals fans, a lot of people are excited that a gut punch is going to lead to necessary improvements that might actually get us back to the World Series.
What you find to be sufficient has long been stale for a lot of other people.

But the St. Louis Cardinals are not the Az D-backs - and the fan base deserves more. I hope this sale really helps to re-stock the organizations pitching, because that is where the Cards are hurting the most.
