Btw, whats the deal with this mystery contract? Diedre said that the Angel's offer wasn't even he highest that they were given, yet we've already been told that the Marlins actually offered only a hair over $200M.

a) It was the mystery team's offer. And why the hell is some team cloaked in secrecy like its a government black project and how is it still secret?

b) It was the Cardinals higher AV contract she was talking about

c) The Marlins actually offered $275M and are lying about their offer to get back at the Pujols for his rejection after all their swooning and are trying to make it look like he took the highest $$$ contract.

This implies that the Cardinal organization was not committed to Pujols, which is utterly ridiculous.

Let us review this commitment:

• The Cardinals drafted Pujols after other organizations backed away for a variety of reasons, including his thick body, his skewed man-among-boys production and his unwillingness to sign quickly. Here's my problem with Gordon. Everything he writes about the Cardinals sounds like it was copy handed to him directly from the team PR department. It's not like the team did AP special favors; he proved it on the field. That's what they do with every player that makes it to the majors.
