Just picked up the Big Star live tribute thing. Really digging it so far.

Jason Isbell is playing in Portland OR when I'm there, so I took it as a sign and bought tix. I always check concerts in towns when I travel, maybe because I rarely set aside time to catch acts in STL. This is first time the stars have aligned like this. (though I've seen some good free concerts on vacations).

Going to the show?

MN Public Radio is finishing a member drive today and the music (non classical) station is doing a countdown of the 893 essential artists, as compiled by top 10 lists submitted by listeners. They're down to #81 and will finish today. You can see the list so far and stream live here:

Wish I would have seen this sooner. Yes, we were there last night. It was epic. First time at Delmar Hall too. That's a great place to see a band.

So I'm at my third concert this week. Saw Govt Mule Monday, Rival Sons Wednesday, and Larry McCray today. It's been a good week.

Fleet Foxes are back (now with 100% less Father John Misty).

I'm downloading every live show ever from the Grateful Dead for my brother-in-law for his birthday (that, plus a portable hard drive). If you're a fan of theirs, and have always fancied owning every bit of music they ever did (that was recorded) then I am more than happy to run you off a copy too.

That has to be a huge amount of music. My uncle would love that.
