Re: GDT 10/28/11-Rangers (Harrison) @ Cards (Carpenter) 7:05
A few thoughts:
– I wonder if the luxury of home field is allowing the Cardinals to DL Holiday while Rangers have to go with Cruz & Napoli. Napoli looked pretty good with his ankle injury (provided it didn't get worse overnight). I don't know if a back-up, catching the red-eye and making a first appearance in a WS game 7 would be of any benefit to Texas. After game 1 or 2, Tim Kurkjian (sp) was asked if he saw an "uh-oh" moment for either team where they may have a disadvantage. He cited Texas' bench as not having a lot of PH experience, whereas Tony gets everyone in and everyone is available.
– I also wonder if The Cards' short bench last night and Freese's key hits will keep him in the game for the entirety tonight. Has LaRussa hopefully, finally rethought his defensive strategy?
I hope third time is not the charm for Texas vs. Carp.
Also hoping that Texas comes out flat like Cards after Denkinger and Cubs after Bartman. Difference is this was on the field.
Texas needs to be reminded what losing two in a row feels like.

I think Tony believes the Cards will need to score a lot to win.JS04 wrote:I know TLR likes defense with Carp pitching, but maybe he knows Carp might only go 4-5 innings?dmarx114 wrote:I would have lost money predicting that line up.
Offense over defense.
Lets roll with it.
Just speculation on my part

And to think, 2 months ago today, the Cards were 9.5 games back of Atlanta....

Would be interesting if their first back to back losses in 2 months were the only two that mattered.KyCardinalFan wrote:Texas needs to be reminded what losing two in a row feels like.

Wait...Ryan Theriot is leading off. Let that sink in for a moment.
Ryan Theriot. Leading off. Game 7 of World Series.
If you were told on opening day, "Don't worry about Theriot. He's going to be leading off game 7 of the World Series for us," no one would believe you.
But here we are...October 28, 2011 - And Ryan Theriot is leading off Game 7 of the World Series.

I was thinking about this earlier today when i was trying to figure out how I wanted the lineup to be. As much as I like Punto's glove, it's been painful to watch him at bat. But I couldn't convince myself that I preferred Theriot to start. Assuming Carp doesn't go deep into the game, I would have preferred Punto start and then be a prime double switch option when the time comes.planet pujolsian wrote:Not a fan of a Theriot start...at all.
I'm glad Furcal got dropped in the order. But I would have had Skip lead off instead of Theriot.
