. Will Sammon of The Athletic reports the Mets have interest in outfielder Lars Nootbaar, while John Denton of MLB.com reports New York reached out about Willson Contreras.

Neither Contreras nor Nootbaar would replace the Alonso-sized void in the lineup, but both would fill holes in the roster. Contreras could slot right into Alonso’s vacated spot at first base, while Nootbaar would help cover the gap left by Brandon Nimmo, who was dealt to the Rangers.

I'll miss Contreras, as it's looking like he'll be traded. I liked his fire, and that he seemed to care.

So the meetings came and went, and we still have Arrenado?

I would be much happier with a 70-win 2026 if we had a team full of the silliest names in baseball.
Unfortunately the Mets locked down Dicky Lovelady early in the offseason, or else he would be a great addition to the team.

I can't see him accepting a trade until rosters are a little more settled because he is going to want to know his role and the commitment of the team trading for him. And I can't see any competitive team locking down their 3B slot with Arenado this early in the offseason. After Bregman Suarez and the posted Asian free agents have signed I think we will see who is the fit for Arenado.

He isn't going to get a whole lot of interest from most teams until the free agents are settled.

lol. I hadn't seen that shirt, but I'm not surprised they have something that awesome. (btw, if you've missed me saying this over and over again, the twin brothers (one of whom is pictured here) that run STL Style are two of my best friends, going back to preschool).

It just takes time for everybody to assess the players, and for those players to become low-hanging fruit.
