How’s everyone’s families doing? We’ve had a lot of cases recently, hope all is going well.

Re: Coronavirus
My wife's mother, who turned 90 on Monday, got the virus in her nursing home about a week ago, went to the hospital last Thursday morning, appeared to be getting better over the weekend but quickly passed away on Tuesday morning. Her lung x-rays got significantly worse on Monday and Tuesday as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) set in. Of course it was brought on by the virus.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote: ↑November 11 20, 1:43 amHow’s everyone’s families doing? We’ve had a lot of cases recently, hope all is going well.

Re: Coronavirus
I am really worried for midwesterners - my family in particular. My 80 y/o Mom.seems to be losing her resolve to not see her kids and grandkids and great GKs. Zoom call has run its course, and is now just depressing to participate.
My brother in Chicago caught it a while ago -visiting with his friend in downstate IL. (His wife and son managed not get it from him) he feels ok. still doesnt have taste/smell.
My teenage niece in WI caught it from her friend who's Mom is hospital worker. See seems to be OK, but a financial blow and PITA quarantine for their family
Two friends IN stl area have had relatives die.
College aged nieces /nephews - a fiasco. My daughter just went back to HS in-person. my Grandbaby is a people magnet, my step-daughter single-parenting and unable to keep her guard up (but fortunately working from home....but occassionally dating (ugh!). .
oh, and Mrs Freed still working night shift at hardware retailer that
has employee covid cases. the arbitrariness and lack of uniformity (LEADERSHIP) around MO is making it worse. We had months of hoax falsely being ratified (probably a better word than ratified)
Just an example, my office is spread out with monastic co-workers - I go to take a piss in upstairs floor restroom that is deserted, i round the corner and an office buildout crew of 4 is sitting maskless on break in the stairwell. ignorance. I was trapped by these MOFOs
My next-door neighbor friend - she has pancreatic cancer and young family, ICUs and hospitals are filling up.
BTW, I.don't feel.sorry for Us. lots of great things going for my clan. the contrast between the good stuff and the above concerns is really amazing. And I don't think our case is all that exceptional. Just providing an example ftr.

If we can just make it until the vaccine starts to go out and/or new masking regulations come out... I would feel a lot better. These hospitalization rates have got to come down.

Re: Coronavirus
My biggest fear all along is that someone close to me would get it bad and need an ICU bed and all these moronic freedum anti-maskers are going to be clogging up all available hospitals. Looks like we're close to being at 100% capacity just about everywhere. I would put the family in lockdown, but the wife is a district pre-K teacher and they are still doing in person class. Not possible to prevent all outside exposure.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote: ↑November 11 20, 1:42 amIf people haven’t prepared themselves mentally or physically to get it, now would be the time.cardsfantx wrote: ↑November 10 20, 7:43 pmSeems at this rate, we’ll just hit the herd immunity threshold anyways

Re: Coronavirus
My B-I-L healthcare worker who got COVID from work in April says their hospitals are at 100% capacity and are turning people with COVID away due to lack of beds and resources.
In addition to COVID, you are going to be in trouble if you need help with something like a heart attack or stroke as well.
