Re: Coronavirus
expect long waits for anything. got the flu shot at local walgreens 2 weeks ago - even with an appointment and filling out the form online it was an hour wait. had a childcare situation with my granddaughter that was about to domino and make me bail on this hour i had spent. some maddening inefficiencies and had to fill out the QnA form verbally and written once again in person. (with lines for both)
...needless to.say/ reminder to myself- be overly kind to these people working the front lines. They looked very fatiqued already. Heros.

Re: Coronavirus
been lucky for my family so far, knock on wood. my elderly uncle got a positive test in the summer, as my folks were moving him and my aunt into assisted living but he never had symptoms and we wonder if he may have had a false positive as he has some other health issues. other than him, no positives.
western CO is finally seeing the virus explode and it feels a little dire out here right now...where cases are doubling every day, we're at like, 10% 2 week positivity rate, we went into "orange" mode on saturday (which mainly effects biz capacity, etc). hospitals are doing ok though, so that's good. it's apparently our age 20-40 population that seems to be getting infected the most...but the last week or so we've seen a lot (15 or more i'd say) of elderly deaths due to covid...lotta old people out here so it would be easy, in my mind, for that population to continue to get hit hard, particularly with holidays coming up. the news flash i heard on the radio a few days ago said the county health dept doesn't see/believe we're about to hit some peak soon, it's likely to continue to rise etc. luckily the school district and university are doing pretty good...though i work in the office that pulls the weekly random sample for people to be tested on campus, i actually do it, and we're definitely getting more positives. the plan at the university was for students to leave at thanksgiving and stay home to finish out the semester. i think the university is really hoping they can keep that plan and i'm sure it will come to fruition but if things continue as they have, i wonder if they're also gonna have staff work from home too (there hasn't been any real info on what staff are supposed to do).
my folks (and said aunt/uncle) are in wichita and that county (sedgwick) is also getting hit hard and having hospital issues on top of it. so i worry about my folks, though they play it safe of course, or at least try. i told my mom last saturday on our weekly call that i wasn't too keen on flying back to wichita for the holidays and she was disappointed...but it really doesn't sound appealing to me...i suggested maybe i could fly out in january where as hopefully the airports would be less crowded (though flying still doesn't sound good). it would be weird not to be around family for the holidays but i figure we can do zoom and i'd rather miss 1 holiday gathering so i can enjoy X more instead of the other way around.

From what I've read this isn't really possible, short of a vaccine which would probably be a recurring thing like flu shots.cardsfantx wrote: ↑November 10 20, 7:43 pmSeems at this rate, we’ll just hit the herd immunity threshold anyways

Well, I should say read and heard. Articles and podcasts, but this is a recent one that’s fairly typical.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote: ↑November 11 20, 4:44 pmWhat are you reading?ghostrunner wrote: ↑November 11 20, 1:36 pmFrom what I've read this isn't really possible, short of a vaccine which would probably be a recurring thing like flu shots.cardsfantx wrote: ↑November 10 20, 7:43 pmSeems at this rate, we’ll just hit the herd immunity threshold anyways

Re: Coronavirus
A legacy of GOP and the culture wars they fostered is covid deaths, epic recession, diminished geopolitical strength of the US.
A couple people dying of covid each day in county of 60K people I grew up in
and my grand daughter can't see her great grandmas face. but hey , HS basketball must go on! And Pritzker Sucks! And Thank God for Donald Trump (they say there)
