Re: Coronavirus
Looks like he updated it so indicate outdoor dining would be allowed....not that it much matters once we get into winter.

Re: Coronavirus
Pretty informative video that touches on the biochemistry of how the mRNA vaccine works, side effects, the immune response in animals, data collection, results, distribution challenges, costs, etc.
tl;dw: Biochemistry is amazing (watch the video just for the graphics). Short term side effects are experienced (fatigue, fever, pain, etc). ~40K patients were given either a placebo or vaccine in a blinded study, but they were not tested unless they had symptoms. After 94 cases were confirmed, they unblinded the study and found the 90% efficacy based on that. [Stephen A Smith voice] Howevah!! [/Stephen A Smith voice] because patients had to report symptoms then be evaluated before being tested, asymptomatic cases are not accounted for and as such it's not known if people receiving the vaccine can still become infected and if so are infectious to others. The trial will continue and Pfizer is in the process of trying to receive an Emergency Use Authorization.
ETA: Was scrolling through the comments and saw where the Doc responded to a question about infectiousness and what not giving his opinion:

Interesting questions, doctor: what happened to the large amount of asymptomatic infected, or does it really stop infection? Not sure if I would get the vaccination.
Jurriaan Tap
Also curious about alleged in-body gene manipulation after this vaccine: is it true it manipulates the human cells it was injected into to produce the antibodies and how does that pan out long term?
MedCram - Medical Lectures Explained CLEARLY
It will be interesting to see whether or not this vaccine actually causes viral sterilization of the subject. Yes we don’t know whether or not this vaccine will stop transmission or if it just prevents Covid after infection. Based on the mechanism however it would make sense that it sterilizes.

California, Oregon, and Washington governors urging no travel and, if you do, self-quarentine for 14 days.
I don't know how you get people to do this again. That boat has sailed. The level of frustration is such - from what I can see and hear - people would just as soon get sick. Still not enough horror stories to get people's attention. We're up to 120+ cases a day after being in single digits for most of the pandemic in Jackson County. Hospitals aren't in crisis yet but give it a couple of weeks.
I don't know.

Governor of Arkansas is holding a press conference at noon to make a covid related announcement. Given the recent surge, I can't imagine the news is going to be uplifting.

the high schools...and maybe middle?...have gone to remote starting today, thru thanksgiving then they will reassess. university is switching to remote for next week, 1 week earlier than anticipated (CMU was always gonna switch to remote after thanksgiving). uni prez always sent out email to graduating seniors that there likely won't be a formal graduation. 1 of the hospitals is not allowing visitors now. 2 week positivity rate is %13.3.

I am hugely affected but I don't disagree with the shutdown and I've got a couple of side businesses that are going well and I'll be able to focus on them this way.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote: Hope you're not affected, haltz.
I know a million people in the restaurant industry who won't be allowed to work and this time they're basically on their own financially after an insanely hard year. It's brutal and the industry is pissed off and exhausted.
It's tough when the government tells you that you can't work and also you're on your own.
