Yes. Switch Skip and Theriot.Gashouse wrote:I was thinking about this earlier today when i was trying to figure out how I wanted the lineup to be. I'm glad Furcal got dropped in the order. But I would have had Skip lead off instead of Theriot.

I'm not that concerned about Theriot starting. I kinda like it. Surprised but not concerned.
Now, that said, I could have lived with Skip there, too. I'm just glad Furcal isn't there again. Huge black hole offensively lately.
I'm with jim. I like the lineup.

With a lefty on the mound I like theriot setting the table instead of skipKyCardinalFan wrote:Yes. I said I wanted Theriot leading off in this game earlier, and I stick by that. Lefty on the mound and I don't want Furcal, Skip, Jay or Punto leading off. Surprised Skip is starting over Jay, tho.

First off the rangers carry 3 catchers so they do have plenty of catching options if they weren't going to go with napoli. And they have spare players traveling with the team that of necessary they could have dl any of their injured guys. That said I think napoli looked fine the rest of the game yest so that isn't an issue.KyCardinalFan wrote:A few thoughts:
– I wonder if the luxury of home field is allowing the Cardinals to DL Holiday while Rangers have to go with Cruz & Napoli. Napoli looked pretty good with his ankle injury (provided it didn't get worse overnight). I don't know if a back-up, catching the red-eye and making a first appearance in a WS game 7 would be of any benefit to Texas. After game 1 or 2, Tim Kurkjian (sp) was asked if he saw an "uh-oh" moment for either team where they may have a disadvantage. He cited Texas' bench as not having a lot of PH experience, whereas Tony gets everyone in and everyone is available.
– I also wonder if The Cards' short bench last night and Freese's key hits will keep him in the game for the entirety tonight. Has LaRussa hopefully, finally rethought his defensive strategy.
And I think last nights game both showed why you should and shouldn't take freese out for defensive purposes. He dropped the pop up...and dropped a foul pop up on a play descalso would have made (his 2nd one of the post season). He is not, in anyway near the defensive player that descalso is. Now obviously you can say the opposite about their hitting abilities which is what you are alluding to.

Has anyone considered the possibility that if we win, Nolan Ryan might assault a Rangers player in the locker room? Last night I thought he was attempting to Darth Vader-choke Feliz from the seats. Can we live with that kind of result?
I think we can.
I think we can.

Not only is that true, but because we have home field and are in the NL park, the Rangers don't have the DH spot to stick Napoli and/or Cruz. If the Rangers want them to play, they have to be out in the field. Even if they put Napoli at first, we've seen a lot of errors from Ranger first basemen that have resulted in Cards runs.KyCardinalFan wrote:A few thoughts:
