The interesting thing is that he's making ML minimum, after that 4/40 contract was paid off by Milwaukee (2007-2010). I don't know what he made last year, when he spent the whole season at Omaha.
It occurs to me, too, that back in the olden days, it wasn't at all unusual for a major league player, at the end of his career, to spent four, five, even eight years playing minor league ball near his hometown. That's the kind of grip the game has on some people, I guess, which reminds me of Bouton's final line in Ball Four: "You spend your life gripping a baseball and then find out it was the other way around."

Love the fact that Cardinal playoff legend and former Omaha Storm Chaser Jeff Suppan got his first MLB win in almost 2 years today. Never thought I'd see him in the bigs again. Always one of my favorites.
