Depends on the club. Chelsea is out of the league so they'll put it all into the Champions League. A club like Manchester City who has won the league but never the Champions League is obsessed with the Champions League and have spent a fortune chasing it. Chelsea used to be like that until they 2006 Cardinals'd their way into one with one of their worst team of the decade. A club like Arsenal who hasn't won a major title in 10 years will chase whichever trophy they think they have the best shot at. Clubs like Madrid, Bayern and PSG chase everything equally.

I got to go Seattle's game last night. On one hand, it's cool to see the top level of competition on the continent play, there was lots of entertaining stuff and it was a higher caliber than the average MLS game. On the other hand, you're watching a team from a country that speaks a romance language, which means their trash brand of gamesmanship comes along too. Give and take.

I've enjoyed the CCL since its inception. As a fan of the sport I think the games are a lot of fun to watch. As a fan of a specific MLS club, though, it's also a little frightening because of how physically demanding the style of play is and what these guys go through when they have to travel to Mexico.

I believe that this tournament will continue to grow and become increasingly successful, especially once the American clubs start to have a little more success themselves.

You're not entirely mistaken. While some variation of it has been around since the '60's, the current format has only been around since '08. And the rise of MLS has definitely helped expand its popularity.

That was when they also renamed the tournament to mirror the UEFA CL.

Tough hill to climb with the knockout stages happening during spring training for MLS and the middle of the Apertura for Mexican clubs. Not to mention the salary cap.
