Looks like Napoli was 2 for 6 plus two walks after the injury. Plus he made the pivotal pickoff of Holliday after the ankle injury.TheoSqua wrote:Yeah thing about Napoli. Rah rah he played hurt and all that. He also went 1-6 and contributed jack poo to the end of game 6 or game 7 after the injury.
I'm sure Holliday could have batted .167 and contributed absolutely nothing to the team as well.
I concur, playing hurt and being an albatross to your team is not smart. But in Napoli's case - he helped their chances to win over replacement-IMO (no way to really know). Even with setting up the dick high fastball to Freese in the 11th.
As far as Holliday/Craig being the better option at that point, I concur there as well - which is easy to concur in retrospect. But mentally, that contrast between Napoli and Holliday was telling during the game. In the end, it was just another sidestory that added to the drama of this game. Luckily for Holliday, teammates bailed him out.
So still forward the Napoli pic to Holliday for future reference. As the eminent everyday franchise player he has to find a way.
