I would guess Scott Frost will be a leading candidate for the Huskers if he's not the frontrunner.

Very interesting fan comments about the UAB football team and how ESPN is ignoring the real reasons it is being eliminated. The U of Alabama Board of Trustees has resisted improving the facilities and getting better coaches according to the comments. It doesn't make sense in an era of huge TV money to say a program is not profitable. The implication is the board doesn't want another successful program in the state.

That they aren't higher? I do, a little bit. They're the only undefeated team from a power conference. That should be worth something.

Then again, they're also #16 in the S&P so what everyone is seeing has lots of merit.

RE: the coaching jobs, Florida seems to be gung-ho about Jim McElwain for reasons I could not ever explain. Not that I automatically think he's a bad hire. It's just how zeroed in on him they seem to be. Of the three major jobs available, Florida is the most desirable by far because their previous coach didn't alienate the fanbase and they've had the most recent success. They can have their choice of anyone available. I guess they're hoping it's like the Last Crusade, where they choose the wooden cup over all the others and it turns out for the best.

Yeah, I meant higher. Believe me, FSU - I despise them , but their schedule hasn't been god-awful. Without looking at the RPI stats, Citadel is the only pure cream puff from a traditional viewpoint. Seems like a few years ago, many were clamoring for undefeated Boise State to be ranked higher than they were at this stretch of the season. And FSU's schedule is way tougher than WAC.

Overall, I enjoy the FSU drop, but only for schadenfreude.

coaches - Jim Harbaugh to Michigan ?

Michigan's first call should be to Les Miles. I doubt he'd take it but he's a perfect fit, and at least somewhat realistic. (Harbaugh is unrealistic)

Both Doeren and Rod Carey could be good choices, though Doeren hasn't quite done much at NC State yet. I'm probably biased because of Pinkel but I'd think damn near any good MAC program's coach should get consideration.

Wake Forest is definitely a cream puff. And Syracuse is bad, too.

Just out of curiosity, here's who they've beat and their S&P ranks: Oklahoma St. (75), Clemson (14), NC State (55), Wake (110), Syracuse (83), Notre Dame (27), Louisville (15), Virginia (52), Miami (20), Boston College (32), and Florida (40).

That's a pretty reasonable schedule with plenty of difficulty. A lot of their problem, though, is that they aren't beating opponents the way a top team should. Six points over 5-6 Oklahoma St.; five points over 6-5 Florida; three points over Boston College (who is good, but a #1 team should win that by more); 7-5 NC State hanging around until the 4th quarter; etc...

Still, if they finish undefeated, they're a no-brainer inclusion in the playoff. And that's really all that matters.

I concur, being playoff eligible all that matters. As for the #S rpi aspect, again-I don't study it. Traditionally WF and Syracuse are decent-ish, and became cream puff in post-scheduling.

Also, ND was 4 or something like that when FSU beat them. How does that factor. Sometime you beat a team that is decent before it gets key injuries and lose their mojo and will and fall to [expletive]. I am guessing Wisconsins rpi with Nebraska win isnt as good as it was a few weeks ago.
