Wow, this is pretty shocking.

I'm a Cubs fan who obviously doesn't post often, but I've been a frequent (almost daily) visitor to GRB practically since its inception (yes, even when the Cubs have been awful). It's difficult to find rival forums (or of any sports team, really) with predominantly thoughtful, mature, and insightful discourse that transcends the troll riddled, childish meatballery that is so pervasive on the internet, and GRB has been one of those places.

I won't pretend that many, many times I visited it was to engage in a little schadenfreude. But most often it was because it gave me genuine, thoughtful insight into the Cardinals and Cubs, our rivalry, and baseball in general from another perspective, and I will miss that.

And keeping things that way is no easy task, so kudos to Micheal and all the mods here for all the effort you have undoubtedly put in over the years to keep GRB one of the best fan sites on the internet.

I just now read this thread. Damn. Damn. Damn.

This is just another thing I do that pisses off my wife that I can't do anymore. She wins again :x

Thanks to all who made this site an enjoyable diversion.

I think there are one or two other sites out there that show gorgeous scantily clad females. You'll probably have to search for a while though.
Wrong. Michael is shutting those down too.
He's flipping the switch on the 12th.

I gotta say, it's been pretty cool to see some, many, of the old faces (sorta) pop in again. How have you guys been doing?

Pretty good. Got married, changed jobs a few times, moved a few times, and now I'm buying a house in Charlotte, NC and working on race cars. Hard to find time for baseball anymore, but life has been good.

I assume the reason the forum is shutting down is it'll be cost prohibitive to continue the forum for Michael, which I definitely understand his decision.

Is there a specific forum that most of you guys are going to relocate to more so then others? I would like to find a new Cardinals forum with the same intelligent and mature type of fans as this forum has displayed.

Plus just because GRB is dying doesn't mean that fanforever's gameday threads need to die.

Thank you Michael and farewell, GRB. This place mattered.
Missed you, pop. Hope life has been treating you well.

GRB. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

Yep. Vehicle dynamics engineer at Roush. Being a rebuilding project is what drew me in. It's frustrating at times, but can be rewarding. There's a lot more intelligent and open minded people in the series than I expected, which has been nice.

Sounds kind of like a dream job for you. Do you still ride your bike? If so, do you flip yourself off when you run a stop sign?
