The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox completed a trade Friday night. Pittsburgh acquired infielder Jacob Gonzalez and left-handed relief pitcher Brandon Eisert in exchange for left-handed pitching prospect Jaden Woods and the No. 34 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.

Put this is the draft because of the pick included in the trade. Generally you don't hear about picks being traded in baseball, because they are mostly not allowed. Only competitive balance draft picks are allowed to be included in trades.

I usually just check the draft checker on the website.

The order is here if anyone wants to see it; Cards first pick is #13: https://www.mlb.com/draft/2026/order

It is weird. Peacock has been broadcasting games nightly all year so far. Not surprised they get some draft rub. I just thought it would opposite; 1st end on MLB, chafe round on NBC. If we had a pick in the top 10 I’d be more upset.

Little question, but I'm pretty sure Chaim is shabbat observant and if so I don't think he's running the show today. He might be hands off on draft day.

Fangraphs wrote:Condon is an explosive athlete whose skill set is like a lot of recent undersized speedsters (think Slater de Brun and Slade Caldwell) except that it comes in a more traditional 5-foot-11 package. Condon's front side often bails toward first base when he swings, which leaves him vulnerable to sliders away from him, but his ability to swing really hard and generate some power at his size is remarkable. From his footwork to his hips to his hands, Condon's swing is well-connected and he's getting more out of his body than is typical for an athlete his size, really only limited by mediocre bat speed. Though he didn't run well at the Combine, Condon showed plus or better speed at basically every other scouting opportunity and is one of the twitchier, more athletic players in the 2026 draft. He plays a clean center field with early breaks and comfortable routes and ball skills, and he's a good communicator in the gaps with a plus arm. This is a classic late first or comp round prospect who might only have the power to be a second-division type in center.
MLB.com wrote:Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 45 | Run: 70 | Arm: 55 | Field: 60 | Overall: 55

Etowah HS (Woodstock, Ga.) features three seniors drawing attention from scouts in Condon, right-hander Matthew Sharman and outfielder Deion Cole, who helped the Eagles win the state 6-A championship in 2024 and 2026. Condon is the star attraction, drawing comparisons to Pete Crow-Armstrong. Gatorade's Georgia high school player of the year, he may have the best combination of hitting ability and speed in this high school crop.

Though Condon has an unconventional left-handed stroke with an upright barrel, he makes good swing decisions and regular contact to all fields. He has enough bat speed and strength to get to average power, though it shows up more in batting practice than in games at this point. He hits balls hard but has yet to pull them in the air consistently.

Condon has double-plus speed and likes to use it, playing with constant intensity as he tries to make things happen on the bases and runs down balls in the gaps. He's a quality center fielder who will stay there at the next level, with the added bonus of solid arm strength. A Tennessee recruit, he's reminiscent of former Volunteers star Drew Gilbert with his 5-foot-11 frame, tools and flair.

Doesn’t sound promising based on that fangraphs report :/

HS so don’t think it’s a money saving pick?
