I get that, however it just doesn’t seem very transformative as a team to let players like Donovan go, when the best prospect in your system is going to be roughly the same player. Sure, hopefully you get a good prospect or two in the return, but you are also losing a player of Donovan’s ability.

Seriously, what benefit do the Cardinals get from having Donovan on their team this year? They are going to be bad. I think we all need to embrace that for our sanity. Having Donovan, but in three years and under control for seven is the outcome you're looking for here.

I think my problem is that I feel like we are still going to be in this same spot 4-5 years from now, and we are looking at trading JJ away to do it all over again. Hence the paddling in a circle.

I'm with ya.

I think it also puts into perspective how Gorman and Walker are worth the wait to see if they figure it out. Their builds and tools are a lottery ticket for way more potential than most prospects we've seen.

Certainly possible given the volatile nature of prospects and trending towards not spending at high levels.

And his fielding has gotten insane grades through two games. Obviously small sample that you can't judge anything on yet, but nice signal to have.

Tied with Andy Pages for most run value added through two games and he's positively graded on bases.

If he's legit good at those two things, that 55 grade on him is going to look low in my opinion because the barrel control and approach are both there.

That bomb on opening day was a player with legit pop because he didn't even square it.
