Don’t assistants often run special teams? I can see them trying a new assistant coaching crew before considering moving on from Monty since they wanted him so bad.

It’s really weird because if memory serves, we were really good at ot/shootouts for a fair amount of time.

I’ll bet next year is the year where improvements are needed or else the attention turns towards monty.

Holy cow, Berube needed 50 stitches after a gym accident. Seems like he’s okay but be careful man.

Lottery ticket.

They've officially punted on the season. As they should have.

Monday night was brutal. This team is just gutless at its core.

They should be selling off almost anything they can, within reason. Faulk, Kyrou, Schenn, Binner, even Parayko - bye.

We signed the bug man for peanuts, and flipped him for a couple of lotto tickets. We aren’t contending and the kids are earning ice time. Works for me.

I honestly wonder if they keep schenn and move suter instead. Less term, lower $, similar points production.

Also is Buchy back for real? 8 pts in his last 6 games? Is he a middle 6 center now lol?

The return for Panarin seemed pretty light. Doesn’t bode super well for what we have to sell.

And I guess maybe we don’t want McKenna after all.

I agree, but from what I’ve read, he basically forced them to have to deal with LA as that’s where he wanted to go and has a full NMC

So guess they had to get whatever they could with LA instead of letting him walk for nothing

Guess it’s why army won’t give out NMC

From ESPN…
Panarin had a full no-movement clause. And not one of those NMCs that teams give away like samples at a mall food court, but a legitimate one they needed to give Panarin in 2019 to lure him as a coveted free agent going to a then-rebuilding team.

• He had a desire to go to a team willing to give him a contract extension now, so he wouldn't have to go through the headaches of unrestricted free agency this summer.

• According to NHL sources, he would waive the no-movement clause and sign an extension for only one team: the Kings.

Still seems strange, as there were rumors that he wanted a $50MM+ extension. 2 years at 11MM per seems way below what he was seeking.
