We had a team meeting yesterday and our boss basically told us that he'll try and stick to our normal meeting schedule while this goes on but otherwise he will be doing all of his work at night because he has to watch his three year old while his wife works from home and his schedule is much more flexible than hers. During the meeting I could tell how hard it was for him because his son was having a great time in the background. We could hear him running around and singing and getting into stuff. Every few minutes our boss would have to run and reel him back in again. It was actually pretty funny for those of us just listening on the phone but it is obvious there is no way he can work a normal day from home.

At least he also said that he accepts that productivity is going to suffer with everybody being locked up at home and said we'll just have to do our best and adjust timelines where needed. It has been two days and I can already see that. My email is dead and nobody is available on IM. Thankfully the stuff that I have to get done in the near future doesn't require any collaboration so with this slowdown, I might actually be able to get ahead of some things and come out in great shape as long as I can stay motivated and keep from going crazy locked up in my apartment.

Kentucky Derby pushed to September

I have stocked up on beer and whiskey. Each time I go out, I get something.

But, we are all going to drive eachother nuts here within a few days. This should be interesting. We plan on watching "The Shining" tonight.

LOL we are going to watch that too. A good movie about a family in quarantine.

So far I am still going into work. My wife is at home with the kids and she is already losing her mind. She and a friend took the kids to a park today to change things up. She doesn't know how she's going last last 4 weeks like this though.

At work the cafeteria is closed and we are somehow supposed to just not get within 3 feet of each other. I could work from home this week if they gave me the option but next week I'm supposed to be part of a project out on the shop floor. That will have to get delayed if they finally tell us to stay home.

My teen and her friends all in that amazing age where they discovering real world freedom (as contrasted to social media) of having some employment income (with few life expenses) , being able to drive, go places etc.

You guys remember those days to a degree...as a friend then used to say- all the freedoms of an adult, none of the responsibilities. (Not entirely true, but I remember it)

She is in a cabin down near Nashville for a few spring break days. We'll see how their shelter in place goes, without any school obligations until April and their spring sports and jobs done for a while.

I'm gonna just put this out there for my GRB friends who don't have kids: people are going to lose their ever loving minds.

I might start drinking again. Not really, but it's been half of one day and I think I'm going to lose it soon.

My spouse and I make the majority of our income in tips. I've turned down several salary jobs in the last year because fine dining has just been so lucrative lately and the place I'm at has gotten a bunch of accolades etc. Whoops.

Had drs appt this morning. Needed chicken for dinner. Tried 3 different stores. The chicken shelves are empty. Couldn’t think of any backup recipes so I just grabbed some steaks.

The doc said my prostate is “stable, no cancer“. That came out of left field, so I asked if he were expecting to find some. He said “at your age, you never know”. Then he proceeded to let loose with a gigantic sneeze into his sleeve.

So, no chicken, no cancer but steak and maybe coronavirus.

I don't have a ton of faith in my ability to not smoke weed in my garage when I should be "working."

These are stressful times. It's medicinal.
