Hope all goes well for the Shlabotnik family!

New Hampshire set a record high for daily deaths yesterday and has the highest paper capital case rate in the country with Rhode Island second. We drove down to RI on Sunday for what a Christmas gathering (3 fams/9 ppl). Everyone was vaxxed and tested negative that morning (plus us older folks were also boosted). We went to a Christmas village and masked when indoors. Had pizza delivered and played board games at the host house instead of our traditional pub/restaurant stop.

It was great to gather with these friends for the first time in 2 years. But we both feel like crap today and of course that makes us nervous. We’ll do rapid tests tomorrow if things don’t improve overnight. Such is life in Covidland.

From what I've read, not much, it's apparently difficult to calc the R0 of Omicron because so many people have natural immunity and have been vaccinated which by definition depress the spread in a community. Hence, it's difficult to determine and irrelevant anyways.

That said, apparently the Rt in the UK is like 3 to 4 which is absurd.

For reference, we thought Rt values in the 1.3 range were high with delta.

And, the UK is more vaxxed than the US by about 10-15% iirc.

Was just going to post this. Wonder if the anti vaxxers will be ok with this one. Coming from the army might matter for some people.
