Thanks, I think that's the plan. We already cancelled Christmas with the in-laws because of the positive PCR, so don't really have any commitments until New Year's Eve when we're supposed to go to a friend's house. We still have two Abbot antigen self-tests, so will take those on the 31st and if they're negative, go over.

Since her positive test was on the 19th, I'm just setting that as my own positive test date so to speak. Since her confirmed exposure was on the 14th, it seems unlikely to me we could be living together for 5 days and me not catch it if my immune system is inclined to permit a breakthrough. I guess there could be an incubation period for her to become contagious so perhaps I should push that forward a few days, but then you'd think I would have tested positive yesterday when I took that antigen test.

The CDC advice for our situation seems really overly cautious. If we followed their guidelines she would need to isolate on her own in the house for 10 days starting on the 20th, even being almost totally asymptomatic. Like, really? Isolate yourself for 10 days as a triple vaxxed person with mild nasal congestion? Who is really going to do that?

Do what you want and wear a well-fitted N95 at all times indoors when going out and it shouldn't matter. You won't give it to anyone. Situations like restaurants or drinks where you take them off should be off-limits for the quarantine period.

I'd avoid restaurants like the literal plague for the next month anyway.

I have to wear KN95s at work all day. They are absolutely miserable. Like velcro on the beard.

I think the knock off N95s are worse than wearing a medical mask because everyone touches and adjusts them all day.

You can't properly fit a K/N95 on a beard. It needs skin contact. It has to be shorn down to a goatee to fit inside the mask if you want it to properly seal and have facial hair.

I agree, and have thought it was stupid from day one. Nurses wear N95's but are fitted for them and they are true N95's. The KN95's are cheap bull crap, smell like the saw dust left over from demolishing an outhouse, and are typically 3 sizes too small.

I think it's mainly so people can say, "Look, we wear ones like they do at the hospital" and feel like they're doing their best to protect folks. I typically wear a medical mask when I'm at my desk and nobody is within 10+ feet.

Mrs AW got a newsletter? type email from one of her professional organizations and one part of it mentioned Fauice said they might start allowing infected healthcare workers to continue working so long as they were asymptomatic and had a properly fitted N95 mask.

I was like...??? Just a couple months ago people were being let go simply because they didn’t get vaxxed. Now we’re sending infected people in to do the work?

Apparently it’s not that cut and dried.

This hasn’t been implemented yet. But in the event bit does happen, sheesh. I tend to agree that it would be the right thing to do. Just think the optics are piss poor

Data is always coming in and being evaluated. We should expect guidance to change as we know more. Heck yeah, I'm ready to throw off this mask. If data shows asymptotic people aren't throwing off the virus, great! If it shows hydroxychloriquin beats the hell out of the virus - great! Take me where the data leads.
