Just saw the news myself. A terrible shock. Unbelievable.
This is twice this decade the Cards have had a tragedy of this proportion, and there's an eerie parallel with Darryl's passing in 2002 - Hancock's last game for us, earlier Saturday, was probably his best outing of the year - just as Darryl's last game for us in 2002 was.
Another weird thing I just thought of - the other day, when Hancock overslept and was late to the ballpark, everyone was worried that something bad had happened, specifically because of what happened to Darryl. A foreshadowing? I dunno, but now I'm kind of creeped out.
