so they want to make it like the NFL and NBA and make them go to college?

I'm thinking they're just going to throw out such off the wall, crazy [expletive], that the salary cap looks tame in comparison lol

I'm not totally against removing high school players from the draft. However I think if you did so, you also have to make the minimum draft age more like 20 across the board, and also support an A-ball level semi-pro league that would be akin to Juniors in hockey, as an alternative to NCAA baseball. Where you also have the option of allowing already drafted players to continue to play with their Junior team if they are not ready to be called up to higher minor league levels.

NHL allows drafted college players to continue to play with their college teams too, which I think MLB should follow.

Teams want to control more of the players' prime years before they reach free agency lol

Players need to absolutely push for a restricted free agent system after 3 years to replace arbitration.

Take on less of the development cost and then have players be older when they reach free agency so they either get less $$/years or they limit themselves to basically one good trip to free agency.

Also reduces risk to the owners. Toolsy kids who go to college for a few years and don't produce aren't getting picked as high or paid as much.

It's absolutely a cost cutting move. Like everything owners do.
