"I don't think this is really doing (Craig) a justice," La Russa said. "It's one of those moves you make because you have to make it, not because you want to make it. I don't hesitate to make it because I really think this guy is a gamer, a talented gamer. ... It's not really good for our club if he has to do it."
The opportunity to play on a major league team isn't doing him justice, whatever that means. I know what he's getting at, but he often gives statements like this. Composed of 4 or 5 what seem to be non-sequiturs that take a few reads to piece together and then it still doesn't make complete sense.

I'd love to read that letter he wrote to Rolen.
The "injustice" is playing him at third (a bad situation where he is unlikely to succeed) because we're desperate, instead of playing him in the OF (a situation that maximizes his contributions), right?

Yeah, I get it. But at the same time, the guy came up in the minors as a third baseman. Seems unnecessary to expound on it in the press, and I'm sure Craig doesn't have any complaints about getting playing time. And all he's really trying to say is that the team needs to sign a third baseman.

Yeah, you're right. And truth is, he was quoted last week about something similar; asked about using Craig at third, TLR essentially said "yeah, we won't be doing anything like that any time soon."

If he spoke English and had coherent thoughts that would be great.

His ultimate point is apparently that all the Cardinals' 3b options suck. It's an insult to the players and not exactly a compliment to the front office. It's bad form for a field manager to express this thought clearly.

Meh, I'm okay with waino going into the seventh. He's the horse and he hadn't been stressed much.

yeh i do....why did we let the runner steal second in the 8th without any attempt to throw him out? Why is wainwright still dealing at 120 pitches?

The defensive indifference is really a head scratcher. Opportunity to get a struggling pitcher out of a jam, and also that single doesn't score 2 and it's en entirely new ballgame. Pretty bad decision with pretty bad consequences.

PH Miles for Ryan to bunt? Is Miles really that much better of a bunter then Ryan? Is he any better than Ryan? With Ryan's speed good things can happen ... I know he had a recent bad bunt attempt against Marmol of the Cubs but not one single sacrifice bunt has been successful against Marmol this year. So I wouldn't use that.
