PH Miles for Ryan to bunt? Is Miles really that much better of a bunter then Ryan? Is he any better than Ryan? With Ryan's speed good things can happen ... I know he had a recent bad bunt attempt against Marmol of the Cubs but not one single sacrifice bunt has been successful against Marmol this year. So I wouldn't use that.
I'm with you on both points.

not to mention the questionable defense you would have out there in the bottom of the 9th with ryan on the bench.....Miles at short? Lopez? maybe the plan was to put craig there.

People are upset that we pinch hit for Brendan Ryan, who can't do anything at the plate, including bunt?

The Brendan Ryan that leads the team in sacrifice bunts? Yes. TLR played for the tie and would have had a weaker defense to go with it.

You wouldn't question burning a position player for a bunt?...and weaken our defense while playing only for a tie? Give away an out, leaving us with only 2 to play with?

Jim - have u not seen Ryan bunt? It's an epic failure for someone who should be a good bunter. He's been terrible. You must not have seen the instances because u would have driven to stl to kill him yourself.

He's led position players in sac bunts each of the last 2 seasons.

If he leads in bunts it is because he sucks at hitting. He is not a dependable bunter.

He's lousy at bunting. If he leads in sac bunts I'd imagine it's because he's not trusted to swing away.

Arguing over whether he can bunt?......well the pinch-bunt was successful, and looked how well the ensuing situation for us worked out....and a player was burned for it....along with an out.
