Starting Monday I had a scratchy throat and little nagging dry cough. My GF also felt like crap. I scheduled a PCR test for Tuesday afternoon just in case. By Tuesday night I had chills, fever and aches. I had CRAZY ASS fever dreams all night, too. But sometime around sunrise my fever broke and I was left with basically a moderate head cold.
Test results just came back +
Thank God for my vaccine.
I’ve got no problem w/ people having the sentiment “Thank God for my vaccine”, but I do find it pretty silly as those symptoms are exactly what omicron presents….vaccinated or not for pretty much everyone.
I do shake my head when people come out saying the healthcare worker told me….“I would have died if it were not for the vaccine”.
So what’s the end game? Every time people get sick they have to go get a Covid test from now till eternity? Or be forced to call off work and pull their kids from daycare? Seems silly.
End game is we learn to live with it. It's got to happen soon. We can't go on like this. IMO

Yes please, make the nonsense stop. Get the vaccine or not, wear a mask or don’t, make lifestyle changes to better your health or keep taking the same risks you have been for decades….but for the love of god, just end this nightmare.

We should give people the support they need to be able to handle their children and take off work, but in general, yeah that overall sounds like what we should do. People shouldnt be going to work sick regardless.

Right. So we take 5-10 days off for a runny nose or get tested? Forever? Ridiculous. Testing for COVID every time someone gets sick is ridiculous.
The virus will keep getting weaker and weaker over time. It’s already weak compared to the initial incarnation. People should be advised to get vaccinated and we all should move on with our lives.

Well, we are averaging 1,847 deaths per day over the past 7 days from Omicron. Almost all of those 1,847 people per day dying are unvaccinated. Most of them would not die if they had chosen to get vaccinated.
So it makes a very real difference for a very real number of people. Every 2 days a 9/11 worth of unvaccinated people die.

This is bordering on a disingenuous mischaracterization that's not in line with 'severity' of symptoms. Like, if I blow snot rockets while running because its cold, is that a runny nose? Is runny nose without fever, headache, sore throat, congestion, etc even a thing once you get above the age of 3? With the exception being allergies, congested and running noses are a pretty clear indication of an infection. If you're congested, and blowing thick yellow mucus out every 10 minutes, don't go to work or send your kid to school, regardless of a test or not. You almost certainly don't feel well 100% anyway and are sick
Fwiw, we don't even have kleenexes in our office, never have. Because if you're doing the aforementioned, don't come to work. We also don't provide puke bags.
