Agreed.Arthur Dent wrote: ↑January 20 22, 4:02 pmI actually think that there really is at least some logic to it re: omicron if you are vaccinated and maybe boosted. But if unvaccinated and not a child … I don’t understand.

does anyone even listen to the PA instructions? anecdotally, they don't in mesa county, CO. i picked out a phrase because you intentionally wrote your "scenario" in the most terrifying way to "prove" your conspiracy filled perspective. i don't think a public health announcement is creepy, during the middle of a surge across the country, you just dont like acknowledging covid and you dont want to hear about it anymore and thus you apply "creepy" to it. i understand covid fatigue at this point but you've been anti-all of covid precautions from the get-go. what you wrote was all nonsense. i understand you think america is being taken over by the gov't but that is not reality. i see no mass closures, schools are what, 95% open, people are back at work unless arrangements have been made and agreed upon, businesses really do not require masks at this point, unless it's some local place, certainly not a big corporation like Kroger, the big fed work vax mandate got shut down by the supremes. the america you think you are living in does not exist.TGantz wrote: ↑January 20 22, 4:50 pmI have no insider knowledge, nor did I claim to. What government mandates needs to be rolled back?
Aside from a select few places which already required vaccinations, there's hardly any federal vaccine requirements. There's absolutely zero legitimate talk from the government about returning to a previously seen US flavored lockdown, let alone the real lockdowns like you see in China. There's no federal mask mandate aside from travel afaik. States and cities are making their own choices, with varying degrees of enforcement, but even then, it's far from a totalitarian hellscape. And all that is in the middle of the worst outbreak we've seen to date. Hell even school districts are staying open amidst outbreaks that would have previously shut them down if covid/schools hadn't become politicized.
News agencies are terrible about using fear to drive clicks and views. Either fear of the covid or fear of the government response and loss of liberties.
I'm not saying it is currently a hellscape. But it's leaning too far that way. A few places "already mandating vaccines" is still a few too many. It is still discrimination based on health status. People can say it is justified, but I don't like how quickly those rights disappeared. To be fair, I can shop elsewhere.
Hardly any federal vaccine requirements is too many. The government mandating anything vaccine related, including federal workers or healthcare workers, is insane to me considering there is no liability. The school convos I stay out of because I don't currently have a pony in that race, but I deal with similar issues at work and I can't really tell you what the right answer is with staying open. With kids, they have very little risk but they can spread it.

Re: Coronavirus
When was I ever against all of Covid precautions? I don't know if I have ever complained about masks, except that they are uncomfortable at work. Never said we shouldn't wear them. Social distancing is great. I said early on that you can give me 10 acres in Alaska and you'll never have to see me again.Jocephus wrote: ↑January 20 22, 5:09 pmdoes anyone even listen to the PA instructions? anecdotally, they don't in mesa county, CO. i picked out a phrase because you intentionally wrote your "scenario" in the most terrifying way to "prove" your conspiracy filled perspective. i don't think a public health announcement is creepy, during the middle of a surge across the country, you just dont like acknowledging covid and you dont want to hear about it anymore and thus you apply "creepy" to it. i understand covid fatigue at this point but you've been anti-all of covid precautions from the get-go. what you wrote was all nonsense. i understand you think america is being taken over by the gov't but that is not reality. i see no mass closures, schools are what, 95% open, people are back at work unless arrangements have been made and agreed upon, businesses really do not require masks at this point, unless it's some local place, certainly not a big corporation like Kroger, the big fed work vax mandate got shut down by the supremes. the america you think you are living in does not exist.TGantz wrote: ↑January 20 22, 4:50 pmI have no insider knowledge, nor did I claim to. Re: Coronavirus
I don’t think vaccine mandates make any real sense at this point. Seems pretty clear that while they are very effective against severe COVID, they haven’t proven very effective at all against spread. They are pretty much personal risk tolerance at this point. Not really certain what a restaurant (for example) gains by not allowing unvaccinated patrons.
As for company mask mandates, we still have one in public areas, and that is at an extremely conservative large corporation.

I know I’ve read articles that has said that your immune system is down regulated after the vaccine has been administered, so I’ll see if I can find it.Arthur Dent wrote: ↑January 20 22, 3:52 pmWish that was the message. It more or less should be. Instead, we’ve undermined confidence with recommendations to continue to avoid gatherings, mask, test, quarantine asymptomatic contacts, etc giving a false impression of high risk after vaccination.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑January 20 22, 12:28 pmThe message from the government has been get your shot and you’re good to go
That’s not correct. Vaccination does not suppress the immune system. It activates it. And there is no window of increased vulnerability. Protection starts increasing after getting your shot, reaching a maximum after around 14 days.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑January 20 22, 12:28 pmwhen it’s been shown that a person is most vulnerable the first couple weeks after getting the shot when the immune system is suppressed
This isn’t true either. Tracking typically splits people into unvaccinated (0 does), partially vaccinated (< 2 doses/1 for J&J or less than 14 days after final dose), vaccinated, or boosted. Partially vaccinated is much less deaths than unvaccinated.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑January 20 22, 12:28 pm…. So if people get the shots, then get COVID immediately after they go straight into the “unvaccinated” category.
This would be useful information, as people would then know….hey, I need to be VERY careful right after I get these shots.
In any case, people in the 14 window are not significant at this point as the rate of people just getting starting with vaccination is now low.
And I’ve NEVER seen data (hospitalization/death) that breaks it down between unvaccinated/partially vaccinated/vaccinated.
This will all be moot as of February 2nd….as the US is about to stop requiring hospitals from logging COVID related deaths.

I don’t think covid killed her. We’ve completely skipped that part and are talking about the topic as if it did. Not entirely relevant because the point remains. Re: Coronavirus
Even the headline does not say she died from covid. Like what if someone died in a car accident after getting a vaccine. Should the headline be, Man Gets Vaccine...AND DIES!
