Not sure how they calculate value but I wonder if a good portion of Walker's value is muted based on being out of his natural position. Or does stuff like that not get calculated on the trade simulator?

So they just updated it based on 60% of the season being over and obviously Walker's defense is regressed in a projection but that has to be hurting his value.

Noot currently projects at .335 woba with better defense and Walker is at .320 with another year of control or something like that.

Thanks! I agree with Popeye that I still don't think Noot should be that close to him in value but at least it brings a little bit more clarity to it.

I agree if only for the fact that Walker has a truly elite ceiling that Noot isn't capable of, but they could easily end up both 4 WAR players in their own way.

The Cardinals can absolutely get good players for their rentals. A GM who wasn’t past his prime could, at least.

Yeah I'm not expecting us to walk away with Jackson Holliday but a couple of top 100 prospects between Flaherty, Montgomery, Hicks, and Helsley is definitely doable. Especially I think for Hicks and Helsley, because teams going into the postseason are going to need bullpen arms and if you think you have a real shot at a WS, in a league where nothing is promised, you'll be a little bit more willing to give up some guys still developing.

I don't see teams giving up top 100 prospects for relief pitchers. Maybe I'm wrong.

The Cardinals gave up Harrison Bader gor Montgomery last year. That's the kind of return I'd expect.

You don’t need a top 100 prospect to improve this team. Pallante is a high leverage reliever. Liberatore is making starts. The Cardinals desperately need pitchers who won’t sabotage them.

Carlson is exactly the kind of player to be an All Star right after we trade him.

I'd still like to hold on to him. I think he'll figure it out eventually. Our OF defense is pretty rough so definitely worth having around.

I feel like DeJong, Montgomery, Flaherty, and Hicks would be the best to go. The SS market is extremely thin and DeJong has a good glove and streaky bat. We all know that Hicks won't last.
